Christian Advocates for Israel (CAFI) - Nehemiah

NEHEMIAH - "Comforter/Advocate of the LORD" (Neh 1:1 - 13:31)

In a time of restoration, when the walls of Jerusalem were broken down, and the people of Israel were returning to their native Land to build and secure the city and nation of their fathers, Nehemiah (lit. "Comforter/Advocate of the LORD") arose and responded in several specific and practical ways:

Fervent Prayer with Fasting (Neh 1) - Nehemiah sought God for His guidance, favor, and direction. So we too through advocacy and intercession in prayer seek to stand in the gap on behalf of Israel and the Jewish people.

Petitioning Governmental Authorities for Provision and Aid (Neh 2) - Nehemiah petitioned the King (the monarchy included executive, legislative, and judicial powers) for provision and aid in securing the peace and safety of the city and Land. In addition it was a Gentile king of the world power of his day. So we too through political advocacy encourage U.S. Congress and Governmental powers to consider the same today for the peace and security of Israel (and the United States).

Community Outreach and Relationship (Neh 3-4) - Nehemiah joined with others building relationship and collaborating for the great work of building the wall of defense and protection to secure the peace and safety of Jerusalem and the people in hostile times. So we too seek to reach out and build relationship between the Jewish and Christian communities through advocacy in community outreach.

Humanitarian Welfare (Neh 5) - Whenever oppression, hardship, difficulty, or suffering was discovered, Nehemiah both addressed it and made effort and provision toward it. So we too seek to love our neighbor and make provision through advocacy in compassion and humanitarian relief efforts.

Nehemiah came seeking the welfare of Israel and the Jewish people - Welfare including their Peace, Security, Safety, Blessing, and Prosperity.

May each of us also arise as a NEHEMIAH!
